West Fight On: Cycle. Run. Walk. Call for Volunteers
Volunteers needed for August 16, September 12, 13, and 15-17
Memphis, Tenn., August 4, 2016 – West Fight On: Cycle. Run. Walk. is seeking volunteers to help raise funds for University of Tennessee / West Institute for Cancer Research on August 16, September 12, 13, and 15 -17. Funds raised through West Fight On: Cycle. Run. Walk will benefit the University of Tennessee / West Institute for Cancer Research in the areas of discovery, innovation and advancement in the field of adult cancer research and patient education, care and support. “Volunteers are the backbone of this event that helps fund the incredible and nationally recognized cancer research that is being done right here in Memphis by UT/West Institute. We have a lot of different options for those community-minded individuals that would like to volunteer their time to help make a difference,” said Valerie Morris, West Fight On Director.
Volunteer shifts usually last four hours. Some examples of volunteer needs are:
· Registrant packet sorting/distributing
· Registration
· Start Line operations
· Event Set-up
· Support and Gear (SAG) stop operations and food and beverage
· Photo Booth Assistant
· Food Servers and Bussers
· Finish Line Operations
· Event Ambassadors
Volunteers will receive an event t-shirt, meal ticket, opportunity to enjoy the Celebration Village and a certificate for service hours.
West Fight On: Cycle. Run. Walk. takes place at Shelby Farms Park on September 17 and will offer participants an array of activities to include road bike courses at three distances including an 18-mile fun ride, a 34-mile ride, and a 62-mile metric century ride; a 5K run; and a one-mile tribute/remembrance walk. Participants will also enjoy a Celebration Village with food, beverages, education, and entertainment in the park after the activities.
