Delta Fair & Music Festival Celebrates Safe, Successful 11th Year with $150,000 Improvements to Agricenter International, 2 Truckloads of Donations to Tropical Storm Harvey Relief

197,000 Attend Delta Fair; $180,000 donated to area organizations

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE, September 22, 2017 – The Delta Fair & Music Festival recently wrapped up its 11th year of operations and is proud to announce that its ongoing efforts to reinvest in the community included $150,000 worth of improvements to the fairgrounds at Agricenter International, approximately $180,000 in donations to support youth agricultural programs and other causes, as well as co-sponsoring a “Stuff the Truck for Texas” drive that collected two truckloads’ worth of nonperishable supplies for Tropical Storm Harvey relief around Houston and the Texas Gulf Coast.

“The Delta Fair & Music Festival went above and beyond what is required to provide a safe environment for some 197,000 Mid-Southerners of all ages to enjoy the rides, the food, the entertainment, and all the other great things the fair has to offer over 10 days,” said Valerie Morris, Communications Director for the Delta Fair & Music Festival. “The Delta Fair & Music Festival also continued its support for the local agricultural industry by donating $180,000 to Delta Agribusiness to prepare the next generation of farmers; spent some $150,000 on paved paths and other improvements on the Agricenter International grounds, and helped coordinate a donation of two truckloads’ worth of supplies for Tropical Storm Harvey relief along with Q107.5 FM and Miranda’s Dream Team.”

The Delta Fair & Music Festival’s proactive upgrades to safety and security this year included hiring a private security firm to supplement the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office presence; an aggressive five-step protocol for safety inspections of midway rides; and random inspections of rides by Shelby County Code Enforcement throughout the festival.

“The Delta Fair & Music Festival is committed to the safety and security of our patrons and to bringing our communities together in the spirit of family-friendly fun,” Morris said. “With diverse programming including Senior American Day, Bike Night, Latino Day, and Salute Our Military Day, we strive to provide something for everyone to enjoy. We thank our hundreds of thousands of guests for their patronage, and we look forward to our best fair yet in 2018!”
