Carnival Memphis Honored Investment Leaders at 37th Business & Industry Salute

Business & Industry Salute honored Doug Edwards, Frank A. Jones, Jr. (In Memoriam), A. Duncan Williams (In Memoriam), Carolyn Williams, Duncan Williams, Charles Gerber, and Andy Taylor.

Memphis, Tenn., February 29, 2024 – Carnival Memphis honored the Investment Management industry during its annual Business and Industry Salute Luncheon at the Hilton Memphis Hotel as part of its 93rd anniversary celebration.

“We were thrilled to celebrate the individuals and organizations who strive to help make our city a great place to live,” said Ed Galfsky, Executive Director of Carnival Memphis. “Our honorees have made an impact through their businesses and charity endeavors that resonate within our communities, and we wanted to salute them.”

Each year, Carnival Memphis awards its top honors to individuals who exemplify the qualities of an impactful leader. Represented by this year’s King, Kevin Kimery, Carnival Memphis highlighted the important work within the Investment Management Industry. These organizations and individuals were selected based on their success and commitment to their industry as well as the Mid-South community.

The Cook Halle Award, named after the organization’s visionary founders Everett R. Cook and A. Arthur Halle, was presented to Doug Edwards. Mr. Edwards had a thirty-year career at Morgan Keegan, culminating in his serving the investment firm as President and CEO. His impact extends beyond the financial world, making him a notable figure in Memphis.

The King’s Award honored Frank A. Jones, Jr. (In Memoriam), who in 1991 founded Summit Asset Management, a wealth management and financial services firm that provides investment services and financial advice to businesses, families, and non-profits. Mr. Jones’ business leadership and financial acumen led him to write a weekly financial column for The Memphis Commercial Appeal and the Scripps Howard News Service.

The 2024 President’s Award was presented to A. Duncan Williams (In Memoriam), Carolyn Williams, and Duncan Williams. The Williams family has been a part of the Mid-South investment management industry since the founding of Duncan-Williams, Inc. by the late Mr. Williams in 1969. Following his untimely death in 1989, his widow Carolyn successfully ran the firm and son Duncan served as President and is now Chairman of DWAM – Duncan Williams Asset Management.

The Chairman’s Award recipients were Charles Gerber and Andy Taylor. Following successful financial careers, together they founded Gerber/Taylor Capital Advisors, Inc. in 1990 as an independent financial services firm.  Specializing in investment management consulting services and discretionary alternative investment portfolio management services, the partners have created one of the most successful firms in the Mid-South.

Carnival Memphis also saluted these Investment Management firms during the luncheon:
