Choosey Parker Memorial Events Announced
MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 9, 2018 – The Ride of Tears Foundation will be hosting Celebration of Life and Justice for Choosey Memorial Events in honor of Toshia Addison, the filmmaker, artist and non-violence advocate also known as Choosey Parker who recently lost her life after being shot in Downtown Memphis.
The Justice for Choosey Memorial events will take place Tuesday, April 10 and Wednesday, April 11. The Ride of Tears Foundation will kick off the events with a press conference and rally beginning at Purple Haze Night Club located at 140 Lt. George W. Lee Avenue at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 10. The Justice for Choosey Memorial Event press conference and rally in honor or Choosey is expected to announce continued efforts to fight gun violence and the opioid epidemic that plagues the Memphis community.
Following the press conference and rally, the celebration of life will continue at Purple Haze Night Club, a favorite entertainment spot for Choosey and family. The family is inviting the public to join in the celebration with local musicians and artists performing to honor the memory and work of Choosey Parker.
The Ride of Tears Foundation is requesting donations for Choosey’s final burial arrangements and also to offer an education fund for her three grandchildren. Three options to donate: make checks payable to Justice for Choosey and bring to event, make a donation at any Regions Bank in care of Justice for Choosey or make donations online at https://www.gofundme.com/justice-for-choosey. In addition Choosey Parker memorial items will also be for sale at the event to benefit burial arrangements.
On Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. the public is invited to take part in Choosey’s final Ride of Tears procession that will meet at the Liberty Bowl and progress to the MLG&W parking lot Downtown where she was so sadly victimized. The procession will end with a candle-lighting ceremony to memorialize Choosey’s work and efforts.

3 p.m. Procession travels to South Memphis neighborhoods sharing the message of non-violence
5:00 p.m. Procession ends at MLG&W parking lot to hold a unity lighting of candles in remembrance of Choosey Parker
5:30 p.m. Testimonials and lighting of the candles (please bring purple or white candles)
6:00 p.m. Choosey for Children will host a community barbeque for children in the neighborhood
