Ebony Moore Named New Director of Volunteer Memphis and Community Outreach
MEMPHIS, Tenn., March 15, 2023 – Volunteer Memphis announced that it recently welcomed Ebony Moore as its new Director of Volunteer Memphis and Community Outreach. Moore now leads one of the Mid-South’s premier volunteer organizations to engage more than 400 partner agencies and 35,000-plus volunteers to serve communities across the Mid-South.
“We are thrilled to have Ebony leading our Volunteer Memphis team and community outreach efforts. She has more than 25 years of experience in business and consultation within both public and private sectors globally, and we believe she will be a perfect fit for our organization and the mission of Volunteer Memphis as we move forward,” said Reggie Crenshaw, President and CEO of Leadership Memphis and Volunteer Memphis.
In her new role as Director of Volunteer Memphis and Community Outreach, Moore will identify opportunities, programs, and channels to mobilize volunteers, volunteer leaders, community leaders, and stakeholders as she links them to non-profit organizations. Moore will oversee the Volunteer Memphis Awards, an event scheduled for June 15 that will celebrate more than 300,000 Mid-South volunteers who selflessly give their time to help those in need.
“Project management, consultation, and relationship building are skills that I have successfully executed during my career, so I’m excited to work with Volunteer Memphis to support our local volunteers and community partners in our mission of impacting the Mid-South through volunteerism,” said Ebony Moore, Director of Volunteer Memphis and Community Outreach.
Moore has successfully used her skills in project management, consultation, and relationship building to identify and actualize opportunities for business growth, workforce development, and community development. She demonstrates her commitment to serve by working on community-based projects that ultimately enrich the lives of others.
Moore was the initial Program Manager for the MATA Bus Electrification Program. In this role, she partnered with MATA key stakeholders, engineering partner firms, and city/state agencies to plan the procurement of buses and the design of charging stations. She has also partnered with the City of Memphis, Shelby County Department of Planning, MLGW, TVA, and the Chamber of Commerce towards sustainable community development initiatives.
Moore previously served as the first Director of Organizational Learning for Chicago Public Schools (CPS), where she partnered with key CPS stakeholders to generate over $70 million in school funding. The funds were utilized to renovate and upgrade select schools to ensure the district was positioned to meet graduation requirements. Moore also led the planning for the launch of the first federally mandated K-12 Title IX Student Protection Department and the redesign of the Student Medicaid Department.
