The Children’s Museum of Memphis Reopens Toddler Gardens After Phase One Renovations
Phase two of renovations will be completed by the end of 2023; renovations funded by donor contributions
MEMPHIS, Tenn., March 10, 2023 – The Children’s Museum of Memphis, a nonprofit organization that focuses on children’s development through exhibits and programs designed to support early learning, announced that a section of the Toddler Gardens play and learning area is now open after being closed for renovations.
“With the generous support of our community donors, we are so excited to see the first phase of renovations completed on this particular play and learning area,” says Dr. Stewart Burgess, the Executive Director of The Children’s Museum of Memphis. “This area of the museum is important for families in that it gives children aged four and under an exclusive, fully-enclosed play zone where our youngest explorers can play freely, giving parents the option of engaging with their child or to watch as discoveries are made.”
The newly opened Toddler Gardens section was upgraded to further the educational objectives for sensory play, imaginative play, cooperative play, problem-solving, dexterity, and motor skills coordination. The new area includes a treehouse, a meandering stream with bridges, smaller trees with fruit for children to pick and sort, a pie-making station, multiple play tables, and problem-solving stations around the perimeter of the area.
The Children’s Museum of Memphis houses more than 30 exhibits that are assured to have parents and kids falling in love with learning through play. Exhibits include the Art and Innovation Lab, Role Play Theater, Digital Easels, Going Places, and a Grocery Store.
