Kosten Foundation’s Kick It 5K Raises over $150,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Research and Patient Support
With over 600 participants, the Kick It 5K Reports Great Success in the Fight Against Pancreatic Cancer
Memphis, Tenn., December 8, 2022 – Over 600 runners, walkers, volunteers, pancreatic cancer survivors, and supporters showed up and helped raise more than $150,000 for pancreatic cancer research and support in honor of the Kosten Foundation’s 12th Annual Kick It 5K on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
“The 2022 Kosten Foundation Kick It 5K was a tremendous success, “said Alan Kosten, Chairman of the Herb Kosten Pancreatic Cancer Charitable Fund. “We raised over $150,000 with donations still coming in and saw over 600 people in the park helping support this wonderful cause. We are so thankful to everyone that donated their time, talents, and funds and to those that came out to run, walk, volunteer, and support our fight against pancreatic cancer.”
Participants created their own teams to participate in the run or walk while fundraising together. Special prizes were awarded to the three largest teams, the three teams with the most funds raised, and the top individual fundraisers. Participants enjoyed live music, local vendors, a pre-race ceremony honoring pancreatic cancer survivors as well as honoring those we lost, free snack packs, and much more. Rabbi Micah Greenstein conducted the survivor and memorial ceremony, as he has for many years. Memphis radio legend Ron Olson served as emcee for the 5K, which he has also done for many years.
Since 2003, the Kosten Foundation has donated more than $2.4 million to pancreatic cancer research. The Foundation’s latest round of research grants helped fund research teams in Memphis, Dallas, and Harlingen, Texas. In addition to its research efforts, the Kosten Foundation hosts the only free, in-person and virtual pancreatic cancer support group in the Mid-South.
